Dyslexia Action is a national charity and the UK's leading provider of services and support for people with dyslexia and literacy difficulties. They specialise in assessments, teaching and training. They also develop and distribute teaching materials and undertake research. Dyslexia Action is one of the Sunday Times' top 100 companies to work for.

Objective

To support their strategic objectives, Dyslexia Action (formerly Dyslexia Institute) wanted to develop their online resources to provide greater interactivity with their target audiences and make available large volumes of information they had in alternate forms. The website would also pull together their regional branches and provide a membership hub for interaction and transactions.

Result

We developed a solution that reflects the values of Dyslexia Action's target Audiences namely, Parents, Teachers & Trainers, Funders and Adult Learners. The new website conformed to all of the Level A of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and majority of Level AA and AAA requirements.

We built in assistive technologies, such as Readspeak, ensured the pages were structured carefully, content was no more than three levels down and that users could switch between several styles which enhanced or aided their user experience as well as the general guidelines that W3C set out.
